To have the chart auto-calculate damage, just click on the appropriate cell.
For example, for a Phaser-1 at Range 8 and a die roll of 3. Find the Phaser-1 chart, look for the column Range 6-8 and click on the 3rd row.
After the damage is announced then the player allocates the damage.
